Bicycling

Bicycling in the Boston/Cambridge area is a popular mode of transportation for students and employees. There are several car-free bike lanes on public streets and a wealth of bike paths.

To stay safe on campus, Harvard students are offered many services including bike registration, discounted bike helmets, bike repair stations and bike repair classes. Visit the Transportation and Parking Office for details. Parking your bike on campus is easy with thousands of bike parking spaces including covered and secure locations.

MBTA

GSAS students may take advantage of the MBTA Semester Pass Program, which offers a 50% discount.

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) is an easy way of getting around the city and offers subway, bus, commuter rail and boat service. Harvard University is located on the Red Line and these bus routes.

Parking on Campus

Parking on campus is very difficult and there are no university parking lots with parking spaces allocated to students. The Harvard Transportation & Parking Office can help students with autos navigate parking on and around campus.  The University accepts parking applications throughout the year.

Ride Share

Zimride is a social network for sharing rides. Whether you have a car or need a ride, Zimride matches you with Harvard friends, classmates and colleagues. Anyone who is 18 years or older and has a Harvard e-mail address can use Zimride.

Zipcar

Zipcar, a provider of cars-by-the-hour, is another alternative to owning a car in the Cambridge area. Harvard students 18 years and older can join Zipcar for an annual fee of $15.
